SpatialCortex at Keep Britain Working: MSK Innovation in the Workplace 2026
Tuesday 13 October 2026, Royal Society of Medicine, London. Presenting in the Innovators' Showcase and exhibiting throughout the day.

SpatialCortex is sponsoring Keep Britain Working: MSK Innovation in the Workplace on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, and will be presenting and exhibiting at the event. Our Founder, Kailash Manohara Selvan, will present MOVA in the Innovators' Showcase, and our team will be at our exhibition table throughout the day, showing how wearable sensor data helps organisations identify, assess and reduce musculoskeletal risk in the workplace.
About the conference
Keep Britain Working: MSK Innovation in the Workplace is organised by Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK) and Joint Venture, in partnership with Zinc. ORUK describes it as the first UK conference dedicated to the role of innovation in workplace musculoskeletal (MSK) health. The programme focuses on two connected goals: preventing work-related MSK conditions and helping people with poor MSK health to stay in work or return to it. Speakers include the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), British Airways, Transport for London, Bupa and BSI, with a keynote from Sir Charlie Mayfield, who led the Keep Britain Working Review.

About Orthopaedic Research UK (ORUK)
Orthopaedic Research UK is a UK medical charity, established in 1989 by the orthopaedic surgeon Mr Ronald Furlong and formerly known as the Furlong Research Charitable Foundation. It is dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal knowledge by funding and publicising research, and by organising training and education that promote collaboration between healthcare professionals across the MSK community. Its stated common goal is to reduce the burden of poor musculoskeletal health on individuals, workplaces and the health system, in support of a healthy ageing society.

Why workplace MSK health matters
HSE's latest statistics estimate that 511,000 workers in Great Britain were suffering from work-related musculoskeletal disorders (new and long-standing) in 2024/25, with 7.1 million working days lost. Work-related MSDs accounted for 27% of all work-related ill health. Over 2022/23 to 2024/25, rates were significantly higher than the all-industry average in construction and in transportation and storage. The estimates are based on self-reported data from the Labour Force Survey, and HSE's analysis of earlier survey data (2009/10 to 2011/12) lists manual handling among the main causes.

SpatialCortex in the Innovators' Showcase
Kailash Manohara Selvan, Founder of SpatialCortex, will present MOVA in the Innovators' Showcase during Session 2 (11:20 to 13:00), alongside four other innovators.
MOVA is a workwear-integrated wearable system that assesses musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risk across a working shift in manual handling roles. It converts how people actually move during a task into quantitative risk scores aligned with HSE frameworks such as the Manual Handling Assessment Charts (MAC). Used for structured, periodic assessment by role, it gives safety teams objective biomechanical data to inform interventions before injury occurs, supporting a proactive, data-led approach built on leading indicators rather than lagging incident data.
What you can see at our table
We will be demonstrating two MOVA products at our exhibition table throughout the day:
MOVA MMH for manual handling. Wearable sensors record lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, and the platform scores each task against HSE-aligned criteria so high-risk activities are identified with data rather than observation alone.
MOVA SEAT for desk-based work. Posture feedback for office and remote staff, supporting display screen equipment (DSE) compliance and earlier action on discomfort.
Alongside the demonstrations, we can walk through how MOVA works:
Assess. MOVA builds a 3D biomechanical model from sensor data, accounting for joint positions, movement repetition and risk exposure across the shift. HSE-aligned risk assessment reports are created automatically for the H&S team, giving consistent, objective evidence from every session and helping employers demonstrate compliance. It works without cameras, visual inspection or skin contact, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
Mitigate. Task-specific, targeted mitigation suggestions, aligned with the hierarchy of controls, give duty holders clear actions to take.
Train. Real-time postural feedback in the actual task environment, so behaviour changes where the work happens.
Together, these map onto the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. Assessment identifies the tasks that carry risk and informs the plan, and targeted mitigation puts controls into practice. Repeat assessments then check whether risk has reduced, and training supports the act stage, reinforcing safe technique once other risks have been reduced so far as is reasonably practicable.
Come and talk to us
If you are attending, please find us at our table during the breaks and over lunch. Whether you are looking to reduce absence linked to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), bring objective data into your manual handling assessments, or strengthen your approach to workplace ergonomics, we will be on hand to discuss your tasks and sites.
