SpatialCortex exhibiting at VINCI Innovation Inspiration Day 2026
On 24th June, SpatialCortex team were at VINCI's Innovation Inspiration Day, exhibiting MOVA alongside a wide range of technology companies working across construction and infrastructure. The event brought together robotics, autonomous vehicles, humanoids, exoskeletons, and AI-driven solutions — a genuinely broad view of where the sector is heading, and the hard questions still being worked through.
Featured in the keynote
Philip Reid, Head of Innovation and Transformation at VINCI Construction, opened the day with a keynote to a full room. SpatialCortex MOVA was featured in that session, Philip described how wearable technology solutions such as MOVA can help transform how VINCI manages manual-handling and Musculoskeletal Disorder risks across its workforce.
Being part of that keynote, in front of an audience drawn from across VINCI's operations, was a meaningful signal of where structured biomechanical risk assessment sits within the organisation's innovation agenda, not as a peripheral trial, but as part of how the business is thinking about workforce safety at scale.

Pilots must have a purpose
Yogesh Patel, Quality, Improvements and Innovations Director at VINCI Construction, was direct on a point that tends to get glossed over in innovation conversations: a pilot without a defined path to adoption is a pilot for its own sake. His argument, as we understood it, was that every pilot should begin with a clear answer to the question of why, and with a rollout roadmap already in view for when it succeeds. If it does not work, pivot. If it does, commit.
That discipline, connecting a successful pilot to an organisational rollout, is something we have had to develop in our own deployments, and it is the right standard to hold technology providers to.
Optimisation leads somewhere
Scott Wardrop, CEO of VINCI Construction, offered a framing of the innovation journey that resonated throughout the day. The sequence he described was optimisation first, then innovation, then transformation, with the argument that improving how work is done today is the natural precursor to genuine innovation, not a distraction from it.
It is a useful counter to the tendency to reach straight for transformation as the ambition. Getting the basics right, understanding how work is actually done, where the risk sits, what is driving injury — is the foundation everything else depends on. You cannot automate or redesign a process you have not accurately characterised.
Innovation is everyone's business
Guillaume Malochet, Global Director of Strategy, Innovation and Transformation at VINCI Construction, and Kevin Cardona, Director of Entrepreneurial Innovation at Leonard, set the strategic context for the day. The priorities they outlined — safety, productivity, talent, and environment — framed innovation not as the responsibility of a central function, but as something the whole organisation owns.
That framing is consistent with what we see in successful MOVA deployments. Sustainable reductions in musculoskeletal disorder risk do not happen because a technology is deployed. They happen when workers and managers share ownership of the problem and the data that describes it.
Where SpatialCortex fits
The innovation agenda on display was wide: autonomous HGVs, construction robotics, humanoids being trialled in real environments, exoskeletons. Each represents a different type of intervention in how physically demanding work gets done — and each requires a clear understanding of where the risk and inefficiency actually sit before the right intervention can be chosen.
MOVA provides that picture, role by role and task by task. Bricklaying, floor slab work, repetitive highway cone placement — high-exposure tasks that are rarely mapped with sufficient precision to drive good decisions about automation, work redesign, assistive devices, or training. We also introduced MOVA Seat to a number of visitors whose workforce challenges extend into sedentary and mixed-posture environments.
What we took away
We came away with a richer understanding of the range of innovation happening across the construction sector, and a clearer sense of where structured biomechanical risk assessment fits within it. The sector's appetite for evidence-based intervention, not technology for its own sake, is well-placed.
